MDU Origins
In December 2015, five friends desperate to prolong their senior year of college, embarked on a journey from Gainesville, Florida to Big Bend National Park. Inspired by a lack of final exams, the young men quoted Frank Sinatra as they loaded their Acura MDX and hauled 21 hours toward the setting sun. “The west is yet to come.” Unsure of where they were truly headed, they dubbed the trip: Manifest Destination Unknown. After 12 days removed from society’s pressures & expectations, three concepts kept rearing their heads.
Nature: America offers a treasure trove of natural beauty. How do we get more people excited about it?
Relationships: As technology reaches further into every facet of life, we forget how easy it can be to unplug. Why in a time of such interconnectivity do we feel so disconnected, and how can we overcome this feeling?
Adventure: Innately American, adventure is what led our forefathers west towards uncharted territory. How can we convince others to embrace some old fashion, rough & tumble adventure?
We’re still seeking the answer to these questions as we promote nature, develop friendships & push the boundaries of exploration.
